Please see the answers to some of the frequently asked questions we have been receiving from our new parents and students. If you have any further questions that have not been covered within this document please email us at transition@newbold.outwood.com and we can add them to this document, however more information will also be given at our transition event on the 9th of July.
When does my child need to be at school?
Students need to be in the school building by 8.15am, they can enter the building from 7.50am and spend time with their peers in the dining hall and on the veranda before their school day starts at 8.25am. A detention will be issued to any student arriving after 8.25am, the school day currently ends at 2.30pm..
What else does my child need for school?
Students need black pens, red pens, pencils, a ruler and an eraser. Students will need to bring a backpack and a refillable water bottle everyday. Further information will be provided at the transition event.
Where can I find information on uniforms?
You will be provided the first uniform bundle free of charge, however any extras can be purchased from the Trutex website using the code LEA00657SC. However, you can also buy uniforms from other retailers such as Tesco/Asda/M&S as long as they meet our uniform requirements, these are detailed in our uniform policy which can be found on our website here, this also details what footwear is acceptable. Wyndsors will be present at our uniform exchange evening on the 17th July 3-8pm, with a selection of footwear that meets our policy. The only Outwood branded items that are essential are our blazer and tie.
Please be aware that jewellery and smart watches are not permitted in school.
What will my child eat at school?
School menus can be found around school and on the website here. Students will have the option to purchase hot and cold food at break time and lunch time or bring their own snacks or packed lunch. We do not permit cans of pop or glass bottles in school. Eating is only permitted in the dining hall and veranda unless told otherwise.
How do I pay for things at school?
School is a cashless site and we would only encourage students to bring in cash for charity events, which you would be notified of. All meals and trips are paid for via iPay. We will provide details for iPay during the school holidays as we need to wait for your child's information to migrate onto our management system. Students can also purchase replacement ties and planners here. You can find more info here.
Where do I find information on after school clubs?
At the moment we run enrichments after school from 2.30pm - 3.30pm, all information for these enrichments can be found in school on our display screens and on our website on the home screen, you need to press the purple ‘Enrichment Timetable’ button. Or follow this link.
How do I communicate with school?
Most communications come from school via the Xpressions app or via text. We will give you further details on how to access the app in the near future. However, all communications and updates will be posted on our website or Facebook page ‘Outwood Academy Newbold’. If you need to contact the school and are not sure who you need to speak to, contact us with details of your query on 01246 230550 or at enquiries@newbold.outwood.com. Your Learning Manager for Year 7 will be Miss Martin, you can contact her at l.martin@newbold.outwood.com. Please ensure that you give us time to reply to your email, most Student facing staff have limited access to email during the school day.
Until September please contact transition@newbold.outwood.com as we have a team that is dedicated to dealing with all transition queries.
