Charity Fun Day raises over £1000!

On the 7th of July Outwood Academy Newbold opened its doors to the community with an aim to raise over £1000 for one of their own.

With donations received from countless members of staff, as well as the local stores within the Newbold area, it ensured there was plenty of potential prizes to win. Indeed, the top prize was a brand new iPad that one lucky child was extremely happy to take home.

In addition to all the fantastic prizes and stalls, there was the small matter of the staff football game between OAN and Springwell Community College. With the Springwell team taking a two goal lead into half time, it started to look bleak for the Newbolders. A goal midway through the second half set up the potential for a tense finish until, with Newbold pushing for an equaliser, Springwell capitalised and took advantage of some defensive mistakes to finish the game 5-1. Even this result couldn’t dampen the spirits of those in attendance who continued to contribute to the amazing atmosphere around the event.

When all the dust had settled and the last face painted, the money was counted and confirmed, nearly £1100 was raised in total to show the power of community and ensure that one of their own would finally get a good night’s sleep.
